Most leisure artists have been on a workshop or too, it's how you grow your skills really isn't it? We are constantly seeking betterment and a workshop is a great way to spend a few hours picking the brains of a professional artist and learning from their experiences. Sometimes an artist will offer a holiday workshop where a few intrepid artists can join them at some lovely spot, sometimes in their near vicinity but more often nowadays far from home. Once there the students enjoy a tutoring session of anything from a few hours to several days based in that one particular area. As I see it a painting workshop is a fairly static affair of studio work with some plein-air work around a base town.
